How Clippper works

To reduce shortcuts and simplify configuration steps, Clippper uses Clips to manage window layouts, which is a size list that you can use to move & resize your window. All you need to do is to set up your clips, and then use Control + Option + ⬆️⬇️⬅️➡️ to control your window.

Note: all shortcuts in Clippper are configurable.

Use Clips

For demonstration below, the clips are [1/2, 1/3, 1/4] on horizontal direction and [1/1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4] on vertical direction. So by pressing the shortcuts repeatedly, the width of the window would cycle between half, third and fourth of the screen width, with the height cycling between full, half, third, fourth of the screen height.

If you are using a vertical screen, I would recommend you to switch the clips on directions, or use any values you like.

Movement

It's just simple as breath: Control + Option + Command + ⬆️⬇️⬅️➡️.

Windows would move by their own size most of the time, and automatically attach to edges, which means you can easily make a window move to an edge or a corner, and when it does, pressing the shortcuts again will send the window outside of the screen.

Pair Mode

Normally if you want to achieve a two/three column layout, you need to use shortcuts for Left/Right Half/Third(s) to achieve that. With Clippper, you just need Pair Mode.

Resize the current window to any size you want, as long as there is a rectangle-like space left, then switch to another resizable window, by pressing Control + Option + P, the window would automatically move & resize to occupy the space left.

Pair Window Lock (experimental feature)

After pair two windows together, if you adjust the size of one of them, the other one will automatically resize if there is enough space on the screen.

Since this is an experimental feature, it might be unstable sometimes and you need to enable it in Experimental section before using it.

Actions

If you need more flexible layouts, Clippper has an actions system that can help you build your own workflows. For each action, you can add one or more operations(move, resize, display......) to it, and Clippper will execute them one by one when you invoke the action.

There is an example action that does two things: Move the current window to the next screen and then make it maximize.

If you're familiar with Moom, which is a great application, Actions are pretty much like it but more powerful.

How to use Actions?

There are two ways to use actions: shortcuts or actions menu.
